Thee Deathe Manualle

Here I cover up most of the things you want to know about dying. What to do when your dead, how to buy new lives etc.

Getting Dead
In the Discworld (and the MUD) its very hard to get killed. But its very easy to commit suicide. For instance, telling a troll his thick-headed is suicide. Running around in Ankh-Morpork barging about you having lots of money with oneself is suicide. Walking in Gloomy Forest at night is suicide. Walking into The Shades _at all_ is suicide. Basically, its very easy to commit suicide here.

When Dead.
When you die, you will meet mister TALKS LIKE THIS. He will have a chat with you (he will talk to you, you listen) and then he will leave. After that, a few small beings will appear from nowhere (not Nowhere) and give you a book. xRead that, it contains useful information. Now when your dead you will see there is a lot of things you can't do. Basically you can run around, look at things and talk to people. Thats it. You get some new abilities though: you can visit many new places, places with locked doors etc where you would not get in other ways, or why not visit a place where you would get killed if you where alive.

Getting back to life.
Now, since you can't do very much as dead, you probably want get alive again. There are two ways to do this; a) players, b) NPCs.
Players (thats me and you) can get you back in two ways. Raise and resurrect. Only priests can do this. All priests can't give you a new life, like me, being a Gappic can't do either of em. Raise gives you a new body again, but you will see you have no XPs anymore: you lose them all in the raise-ritual. Resurrect (only Pishites has this) gives you some of your XP back, the better bonus the priests have in the required skill, the higher percentage of your XP will get back to you. If you only had 10000 xp when you died I don't think its worth the time spent getting a pishit, but thats up to you to decide.
If you can't get a player to bring you back to life, or if your in a hurry and can't spend the time on that you have no other choice than getting an NPC to raise you. This can be done in several places. However, you will lose all your XPs.
Ankh-Morpork: Go to Temple Of Small Gods (TOSG) foyer, west, up, then possibly east, I don't remember that. You will there meet Harry, who will give you a new body. If you where priest you lost all your rituals when you died, Harry gives you back those rituals who is general, but not exclusive rits (one or a few gods only). See your guild training area to get them back. Remember not to kill Harry, he got a long memory, and you never know when you need his services.
KLK: In KLK, see the temple of Sessifet, along Market Street. I'm not sure what room to go to, but there is only 4 to choose between.
Ramtops
If you walk as far east as you can there will be a shrine. If your alive, you'll get one extra wis, if dead, you'll get one extra body. The problem will be to get away from there without your stuff...
There are more places to get a raise, ill list em when I've find out.

Getting your stuff back.
This is sometimes the most critical part. If you die in an open space, like a street in a town, you just have to get to the place and "get all from corpse". However, you might get more problems than that. Maybe your corpse lies in Gloomy forest or some other place where you cant go but getting killed. You then have to get someone to help you. Remember to ask politely, not all players has all time in the world.
Your corpse will get one hour before it decays. When it is rotten all stuff will just be lying on the floor, free for everyone to get. Therefore you must get to the corpse before that time has gone out. As long as your corpse is still there none will be able to loot it, in case your not a player-killer, and if you are, you will already know everything I've written down here.
To allow someone else to get all stuff from your corpse, use the "permit" command. This will allow one individual which you name to get stuff from your corpse.
Often one dies in the Djel river. You will then wonder how to get your stuff back. The most used way is to ask someone politely for help. I have read somewhere that Gut the fisherman can get your stuff for you. However I don't know HOW this is performed.

Buy More Life
Typing "score" will tell you how many times you've died and how many more times you can die. The figure is a bit tricky, if it tells you you can die 0 times before you are completely dead, you can die once, get resurrected/raised and THEN you will have your last life, don't die now i tell you that. However, that figure can be changed, by buying lives. Do like this: Get a few royals, your first life will cost you 2 or 3 royals. Remember only royals works, and royals alone. Go to TOSG, and search for the statue of Pishe. It's located in the pishe-room, eastern part of TOSG. If you look at a pool, you will see there is some royals in it. (You wont be able to get them from there though). Check the toss-command now. Try this: "toss 1 royal into pool". They changed it when they rebuilt the temple, it used to be the fountain. Repeat this until you are told you feel you have more life. Don't hurry, always wait till your told if you've got a life or not. If it did not work, you will be told something like you did not get a gift or similar. Now, if you've got a life, don't toss in more royals to get more lives, it wont work. Type "score stats", and you will see your con has gone down a lot. It will regenerate slowly, but you must let it have its time. I suggest you find some friends and have a chat, do some idling. Don't try to buy more lives before your stats are normal again. There are faster ways of getting your stats back, but thats a completely different story. (Ask a pishite to fix your stats)
It's said that there is an increase in the cost, i.e., every life is more expensi've to buy. However there is also some random in it. While the medium price will be higher for every life you buy, but you may very well find your next life to be cheaper than your last. I have not bought many lives, so I'm not sure abut the exact cost-development, but I'm told that life no 30 costs 9 royals. Anyway, I can't confirm that my self. I've also heard, and I believe its true, that there has been a change into the pricing. I bought my 4th life for a price of 2 royals, and i heard that the maximum price is 6 royals now. My life no 11 costed 5 royals.

Start all over again
You may face the day when you die and you can't get raised again. If so, you are DEAD. Your history is over. Good bye Disc! Well, its not completely over, you can start all over again. Its called refresh. You will after a refresh be back at level 0, a member of the adventurers guild, worshiping no god. Yeah man, its all that I always wanted!! Possibly not, but... Maybe you feel that you want an other rearrange, you configured your stats bad, or you did a lot of mistakes and died a lot in vain. Refresh can be a very good thing to do. I did at level 84, it was tough, but now I'm back where I where before, and I have only died twice since refresh, (thats due to changes though...) and have a better rearrange. So cheer up, its not a total disaster.
Now, how does this refresh works out? Basically there are two refresh, refresh me and refresh totally. Doing refresh totally you will be back doing the wombles friend quest, but you will be naked, getting no stuff with you. You will keep your name and your age from your old life, everything else is gone. Refresh me will be as above, but some things differ: you will have done all the quests you've done. Therefore you wont be able to do them again, so you can't get those XPs again. You will also keep all your bank accounts, and your vault if you have one.
NOTE: This gives you the ability to do some cheating. When I had to refresh I first made a refresh me, got the most valuable stuff from my corpse, all my stuff from the vault and my money from my bank accounts, put it all in a backpack and gave the pack to a friend, whereupon i made refresh totally, found my friend and got my stuff back. I did not know this was illegal (if I did know, I wouldn't have posted it on the main frog board) but the fact is, IT IS. So i tell you you can do this to warn you, don't do this, its against the rules. The cres can delete your char completely if you do this, so don't.

A last warning
On the boards this post was posted. I have no experience of it my self and cant explain or confirm it, but here it is:

Sorry if something similar has been here before.

Each time you toss a royal into the fountain of lives, your stats go down by a large amount. If your con is at 7 (I think) after a "toss", the money your put in next will not help buy the life. You have to wait for your con to regenerate enough.

Example, I toss in 1 (maybe 2) royal. It states that 1 royal is not enough etc. so I toss in another. It says that I am too weak to be helped at the moment. After exhausting another few royals I consulted a creator, who explained what had happened. After I waited for my con to regenerate, I finished buying the life with the last of my 8 royal savings. That was 7-8 royals for one life, which should have cost around 3-4. I now have 2 lives. Just a friendly warning :p
