The Warrior Priest School

Don't confess your sins to your god, then he or she will know about them. Religion on Discworld is about Life and Power. Gods feeds on faith like you and I do on food, water and air. If none believes in them, they weakens and diminish. So they need Followers who believes in them. These who do they give special powers. Priests devotes their life to their gods and give more life to them, so gods in return gives more benefits, more powers, to priests than to normal followers. The God gives power to the priest, the priest gives life to the god. Religion is about salvation for gods, not for people. "; $string[3]="There is a difference between believing in a god and following a god. Most people believes there is a god but ignores them. If you follow Gapp, the one true stylish god, you know lower gods such as Hat or Sek exists, you just don't follow them. You give no life to these gods, they give no powers to you.
To be a priest, you must chose a god to follow, and then follow him. Gods gives powers to priests (and to some extent to followers) through rituals. These rituals are more powerful than you can imagine. Fast transportations, instant healing, informations about people and places far away, even giving life to dead ones. All depending on which god you follow. You may ask around for which god does what, or just pick one. In this school details of how to become a warrior priest serving Gapp, the only truly stylish god will be revealed, but I suspect priests of heathen faiths may spy on these teachings as well."; $string[4]="To become a priest of Gapp you must find a temple. The major temple of Gapp is located in Ankh-Morpork, Street of Small Gods. (The Major Gods, those who created universe, are not worshiped at all on Discworld, it has something to do with a disturbing field of magic or some such). There are also temples to Gapp in Djelbeybi and in Bes Pelargic. Recently, with the discovery of Genua, a new and very competent temple has been put in service. Find the high altar and pray to Gapp there. Then search the halls of the temple for an instructor. When you find this room, that is closed for unbelievers, you join the priesthood there. You are now a convert, and a priest of Gapp."; $string[5]="Only in Gapp's main sanctuary in Ankh-Morpork, Genua and Djelbejbi all facilities are at place. In the other minor temples, only instructors and high altars will be present.
Let me explain what all these things does. In the temple shop you can buy all items you need as a priest. You find blocks of incense, prayer books, symbols and all others. My advice is to not buy anything until you try out a ritual and you find out that it can not be done without a special item.
At the high altar, you can pray to Gapp to become a follower, also meditate and forget all rituals you have learnt, if you for some reason would want that.
You can put broken clothes on the low altar. There, they will be mended, but it will take a toll on your mental powers so take a rest afterwards. Gapp, being the only truly stylish god, takes a personal interest in the stylishness of his followers, and torn clothes is not anything that goes with this.

The instructor is an important figure, and you find him in the most holy room, where infidels are not let in. He can assist you with many services. First, he can help you join in the priesthood. Then, he can, to a price of hard study, advance your skills in pretty much anything. Even magic, although he only teaches you five lessons of that, and very reluctantly. Up to 300 lessons of faith awaits you, and when you have taken them all, you are a priest skilled to serve Gapp in all aspects. He also writes prayers into your prayerbook, teaches you rituals and a few other things you will need."; $string[6]="To become a warrior priest you will have to become a priest and a warrior, but you will get no aid with the warrior part. The priesthood will help you with priestly matters, but you will have to become a warrior on your own hand.
From the instructor, you will only get ten lessons in fighting. To help you a bit I here provide you with some steps to take. To advance your skills you need to get energy to study. This is done by doing other things to take your mind of all your lessons and get more energy to study harder. Killing is the best way to regain your study initiative, and while you become a more powerful warrior priest you will be better at killing things and can advance faster. On the other hand, as you advance each lesson becomes more expensive, you must study harder for each lesson than the previous one. So get your self a dagger and start killing things. "; $string[7]="First, take five lessons of faith. This will be your basic studies on the matter, and will give you two rituals, a calming ritual which is good if you fight some enemy that is to hard for you, and a simple healing ritual for light wounds. Later you will get more powerful rituals.

Next, you will need the first ten lessons in health, the art of building a strong and healthy body. This will give you a buffer so that you can take more punishment in a fight. From the instructor you will get only 25 lessons in this and after that it will be even harder to train your body.

By now you will know how hard it is to kill even a rat. To improve your fighting abilities, take the first five lessons in general fighting. This will cost you much of your energy and you will need to spend lots of time outside of the study chamber before you come over this threshold, but you must.

Next time you return to the classroom it is to learn more about faith, get five lessons in the ritual aspect of faith. Although you will be able to take 50 general faith lessons it will be more efficient if you focus on that that matters.

Complete this with the melee aspect of fighting and the remaining 15 lessons of health, and you have a basic new beginners set of skills. After this, put your dagger in the scabbard and get a short sword, you have earned it."; $string[8]="Now we must focus on getting some important rituals. Therefore, improve your curing rituals till you get the next healing ritual to cure medium wounds.
Don't give up, spend all your study efforts on this. Even if you don't get this ritual, your lower curing ritual benefits from your higher skills, and in the end, you will get there.

Following this, you need protection. Study the defensive rituals till you get your first protection ritual which allows you to give yourself, or another being, a minor shield. This is a blow absorber which will turn your weaker enemies even weaker and your stronger ones a bit less dangerous to you.

After this you will be familiar with the expression the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak meaning you want to do something but don't have the energy. Mental energy can be measured so study this till you get 150 points, that will be good enough for now. "; $string[9]="It feels good, doesn't it? You can kill things now. The days with 20 minutes to rid the world of a rat is over. But then you hear some guys bragging about crocodiles, giant spiders and other things that would eat you for breakfast. This means more work on your skills. From the instructor you can get no more help in the fighting area, so you need to talk to some one who has gone further than you. Learn how to make better use of a sword and make it your main weapon for now.

Advance the defensive rituals till you get the ritual which allows you to put up major shields. Work on self protection and self curing from there. Improve your mental strength. And now awaits a ritual that takes much time to get; Divine hand. "; $string[10]="Divine Hand will let you move around from place to place without walking. Very fast transportations. But to get it you need hard work. Learn more faith till you have the equivalent of 50 general lessons. Then the instructor will teach you how to consecrate items to Gapp. This is crucial for the transportation thing.
A whole set of rituals is lumped together under an umbrella called miscellaneous. When you have gotten 50 lessons of misc rituals you will get a ritual which let you link consecrated items to a place. You need this to get Divine Hand to work. Then comes the hard thing: 150 lessons of targeted miscellaneous rituals. It seems hard, but on the way you will get a ritual which allows you to mend clothes.
You can save some teaching powers by repairing clothes and learn by doing this skill. But in the end, you will get it. You will then see it works badly.
Four failed attempts on each success in the beginning. At average. And each attempt takes 200 points of mental energy. But practice and studies will raise your skills and improve your success. "; $string[11]="On the fighting area you have swords as your main skill. Now you need more.
When I started here, axes was the main thing (and still is) to take down plants, blunt (now maze) anything with troll skin. The later part has changed somewhat and you can now kill trolls with many types of weapons.
You have to find your own fighting style. I recomend a primary, secondary and third type of weapon. Me in person uses mace/axe/dagger. No. 2 and 3 works as backup, I also use axes to take down plants and dagger to skinn things, should the need araise. But you can pick another style.

Learn targeted offensive rituals till you get a fumbling ritual. It will help you unarm some enemies. If you wan't to go further than this, you need to go to the next part of the warrior priest school.

And remember, always have spare lives, you don't know when you die next time."; $pointer=$_POST["pointer"]; if($_POST["type"]=="fw" || $pointer==0) $pointer=$pointer + 1; if($_POST["type"]=="bw") $pointer=$pointer - 1; echo "
