How to become stealthed using DC++k

You're all warm and fuzzy, browsing hubs, meeting interesting people and getting kicked by hostile OPs, when you suddenly realize that many hubs discriminate against your kind.
Yes, even in our enlightened age, people will be prejudiced against you merely since you exhibit certain marks, marks that show you as different from them, perhaps even... better?
You start to realize that you have to make a decision.
You can decide to openly enter any hub, wearing your true colors, proclaiming your right to be there for all to hear. Sure, you might get thrown out (it is their place, so what they say goes), but perhaps you will make them reconsider.
You might choose to boycott the intolerant, entering their places only to tell them what you think of their discriminating ways, and then sailing on as a moral crusader.
Or you choose to hide your marks. Pretend to be like them. Sneak your way into their crowds. Because this is the digital world, you are able to look exactly like them (almost)... if you so choose. Be aware, though, that no revolution has ever been won without any martyrs. If no one leads, then very few will follow. This is the way of the imposter, the traitor, the assassin - to work from within. For those of you interested in the shady path, this page is for you. You others might learn something in this page, but you are not the target audience. Listen, learn, but before you raise your voice - remember that the final choice is always up to the individual - no one can make choices for others, not if they are to learn and grow.

How to become stealthed using DC++k (v0.17+) :

  1. Do not send the extended information tag (Extended/Send extended information)
  2. Disable the ability to get your bzipped filelist (Extended/Allow bzipped filelist to be sent (requires restart if not stealthed))
  3. Disable the extended protocol (Extended/Disable extended protocol (implicitly disables $Supports command))
  4. Change your lock string (/lock <new_lock_string>)
  5. Change your pk string (/pk <new_pk_string>)
That's it. You are now a shadowy figure, unable to be recognized... or are you?

If you have any suggestion that you think ought to be here, mail me (don't forget to remove the three exclamation marks).
