1. Introduction 2. Howto 3. Known limitations 4. Contact info 1. Introduction EnemySpellDetector makes it easy to detect when the enemy does something you want your addon to respond to. It is the purpose of this addon to be language independent, however, currently only English is supported, as this is a test release. 2. Howto To use EnemySpellDetector, simply create a function that should be called whenever the enemy does something, and register it with EnemySpellDetector. To register your function, call : EnemySpellDetector_AddListener(eventType, functionName) eventTypes: EnemySpellDetector_Type_Cast - normal spell being cast EnemySpellDetector_Type_Gain - target / performer gains action EnemySpellDetector_Type_Perform - performer performs action (against target) EnemySpellDetector_Type_BeginCast - performer begins to cast action EnemySpellDetector_Type_BeginPerform - performer begins to perform action If you wish to register your function with several event types, you will need to call EnemySpellDetector_AddListener several times or you can use a table in place of eventType. Your function should look like the following (except for name) : function EnemySpellDetector_ListenerCallback(performer, action, target, ...) Parameter description: performer - who performed the action (if available, otherwise null) action - what was performed (should never be null) target - who was the target of the action (if available, may be null) Note that there are other functions (EnemySpellDetector_RemoveListener for example) but most of those are actually quite unnecessary for you to use. EnemySpellDetector is made to be easy to use and (relatively) lightweight, both in deployment and when using/coding for it. 3. Known limitations Your function CAN NOT be declared local. You can try using a function pointer instead of a function name. The code for this is experimental at best, though. It is not possible to identify a non player character uniquely from the chat messages. 4. Contact info Contact me (sarf) via Curse private messages, or by Cosmos UI private messages.
